Since the first Contender pistol was made in 1967, the Contender® has been the choice of serious handgun hunters throughout the world. The reputation this pistol has achieved in terms of its versatility, “minute of angle” accuracy and proven long range performance is unquestioned. When demanding hunters and IHMSA target shooters wanted a handgun that would perform, they chose the Contender. 35 years later, the second generation Contender Pistol emerges and it only got better.

Interchangeability

Maintaining the same barrel interchangeability, the same time-proven long range accuracy, and the same adaptability of converting to rim fire or center fire, the new G2 Contender® has added some features which make it even more user friendly in the field. In addition, the grip, frame, and forend have been profiled and sculpted for a more modern and streamlined appearance. Size and weight remained approximately the same, adding less than 1/10th of a pound to the frame assembly.

Versatility

The Versatility of the G2 Contender® is unmatched by any other handgun in the world. From plinking and small game hunting with rimfire cartridges, to varmint and big game hunting with centerfire rifle cartridges, the G2 Contender will continue to be the handgun of choice for those that pride themselves in wanting only the best.

New Features of the G2 Contender®

• Easier to open.
• More clearance between the grip and the trigger guard. New ergonomic grip.
• Incorporates a Patented automatic hammer block safety with built-in interlock. (patent # 5,680,722)
• Allows shooters to cock the hammer, lower it, and re-cock it without the need to break the action open again.

G2 Contender® Compatibility with Old-Style Contenders
The G2 Contender frame will accept all Contender barrels and their corresponding forends (except Herrett forend). The G2 frame will not accept old-style grips because of the change in grip angle. Blued or stainless barrels are readily interchangeable.

G2 Contender Rifles

At only 5.4 lbs., you won’t find a handier, more versatile rifle anywhere.

The G2 Contender® rifle is a compact rifle boasting the same versatility and accuracy found with the G2 Contender® pistol.

It features readily interchangeable 23" barrels, enabling the shooter to select from 9 different cartridge options; from .17 HMR, up to 6.8 Rem or .45/.70 Gov’t. In addition, all of the 16-1/4" and 21" barrels made for the old style Contender will readily fit the new G2™ frame. The high comb on the buttstock allows the shooter’s eye to be in perfect alignment when using a scope.

Its versatility, with regards to selecting either rimfire or centerfire barrels, makes it a multi-use rifle. It’s an ideal plinker, small game and varmint rifle, and is one of the lightest hard-hitting deer rifles there is. It’s as home in a trapper’s pack basket as it is in deer camp. ...And as a “carry gun”, they don’t get any better. It will become your favorite in any of the seasons.

G2 Contender Innovations

Barrels for the G2 Contender can be changed in only seconds by removing the forend and tapping out the barrel/frame hinge pin. All Contender barrels will fit; blued and stainless barrels are interchangeable.

Contender® Combination Tool

This handy tool of cast steel and brass can be used for a number of purposes: to remove and replace the grip cap, the grip and the forend; to adjust the trigger; to adjust the rear sight elevation and windage.
