The crowning jewel in the ICON family of bolt action rifles is the ICON® Warlord™. With superior accuracy and custom shop quality, the Warlord is equally superior on the range or as a tactical sniper rifle. Using T/C’s Foundation for Accuracy and a hand-lapped, stainless steel barrel with 5R rifling, Warlord is certified ½ MOA which is three shots in a ½ inch group at 100 yards. The certified target ships with each Warlord.
Foundation for Accuracy- Warlord’s Receiver is CNC-machined from solid-bar stock steel. The action features a full-length Picatinny dimensioned scope rail machined into the receiver top adding strength and helping to stiffen the already stout action. Recoil lugs on the bottom of the receiver interlock with the aluminum-bedding block epoxied rigidly into the stock. The flat-bottom receiver and aluminum-bedding block provide a stable foundation.
Picatinny Rail- The full-length Picatinny rail features MIL STD 1913 cuts and 20 MOA of incline. Since the scope rail is machined directly into the receiver, there’s no weak point introduced by screws or dowel pins.
Barrel- Mated to the Warlord’s action is a heavy tapered, stainless steel, deeply fluted, match-grade barrel measuring .9 inches at the muzzle. Rifling is offered in 1:10, 1:11.25 or 1:12 inch twist. 5R rifling is featured and the standard barrel length is 20 inches.
The Bolt- A three-lug (fat-bolt) bolt with a 60-degree rotation, rides smoothly inside the receiver. The bolt body is fluted preventing dirt or debris from creating a bind in the Warlord’s action. The bolt is easily disassembled for routine maintenance. A “T-slot” extractor fitted into one of the lugs and a conventional plunger-type ejector provide reliable functioning. Protruding from the rear of the bolt sleeve is a cocking indicator that is both tactile and visual.
Trigger and Safety- Adjustable trigger, preset to 3-3.5 pounds, is fitted to the action. A two-position safety is mounted to the rear of the bolt handle and allows a marksman to load/unload the rifle with safety engaged. A separate bolt-lock is mounted to ensure the bolt remains closed during transport. The bolt lock is automatically disengaged when the safety’s pushed to the “fire” position.
Magazine- Thompson/Center uses a Badger Ordnance’s well-respected bottom metal design which incorporates a paddle magazine-release and feeds from five- or 10-shot magazines (in .308 Winchester).
Stock- The barreled action is bolted into a Manner’s composite T2A stock. The Manner® stock’s fitted with an adjustable cheek piece, Pachmyr® recoil pad and flush side-sling attachments. Metalwork is finished in Thompson/Center’s “Weather Shield” finish for added protection from the elements.
Caliber- Offered now in .308 Winchester chambering. Thompson/Center has plans for a longer action specifically for the .338 Lapua Magnum not yet available. Rifling is offered in 1:10, 1:11.25 or 1:12 inch twist.

The ICON Classic™ has all the fine details of the best and most expensive bolt actions on the market, with little extras that give it a sense of luxury. The ICON Classic, already a favorite among today’s top pros, is fast becoming a true American classic.
The beautiful high grade walnut, the intricate checkering and ribbon detail, the integral Weaver® style scope mounts, the stylized interchangeable bolt handle, the sleek feel and superb balance all add up to one beautiful gun, but that’s not all.
There are so many technical, mechanical and performance-enhancing features on T/C’s new ICON that it can’t really be compared to other bolt actions. From the revolutionary Interlok Bedding System to the innovative T-Slot Extractor, the ICON is the ultimate in accuracy, precision and reliability. The ICON comes chambered in popular calibers.
Thompson/Center teamed up with Hornady® to engineer a cartridge designed to work perfectly with the ICON. It’s a 30 caliber medium action cartridge with the velocity and knock-down power of a 30-06 cartridge. Take a look for yourself and see the new era of bolt action firearms.
Thompson/Center constantly strives to improve the performance and accuracy of our firearms. One major factor that we studied is the different rifling options developed in the past and how they perform with our rifles. In this study, we found that 5R rifling had the characteristics, consistency and improved accuracy that we were searching for.
5R rifling is a Russian developed rifling which uses 5 lands and 5 grooves instead of the traditional 6 lands and grooves. In addition, the sides of each land are cut at a 65 degree angle versus a harsh 90 degree angle on standard rifling(see graphic below).
Benefits of 5R: 5R rifling’s unique design provides benefits to the shooter by causing less bullet deformation because the edges of each land do not cut into and deform the bullet jacket. Because the bullet jacket is less deformed, there will be less jacket fouling in the grooves. The results are better consistency of accuracy from shot to shot, greater bullet stability over multiple shots, and ultimately a rifle that’s easier to clean thoroughly.
T/C’s confidence in 5R rifling and it’s dramatic improvements in consistency, is what allows us to MOA Certify each ICON rifle before it leaves the factory and provide that target in the box with the gun and place an MOA guarantee on our T/C Venture rifles.

What is Minute of Angle?
Knowing the ballistic characteristics and capabilities of the firearm you’re shooting is critical not only to bench shooters but hunter’s as well. When considering that the kill zone on a whitetail is 14-16”, confidence in your abilities and accuracy of your rifle are paramount. The term Minute of Angle (MOA) is used to describe the accuracy and performance of a rifle and the matched ammunition. While you can find many explanations of MOA on the web and in shooting magazines, we’ll break it down to its simplest form below.
MOA-In order for a rifle to be considered MOA it must shoot a 3 shot group in an inch or less at 100 yards. At Thompson/Center, we shoot every ICON rifle before it leaves the factory and print out the results on a certified target. That target accompanies the rifle so a buyer knows exactly how that rifle will perform and what ammunition we used to certify it with.
Sub-MOA and ½ MOA- Several of the models of T/C ICON rifles are certified Sub or ½ MOA. The ICON Precision Hunter is certified to shoots 3 shots under an inch at 100 Yards (must group less than an inch). The ICON Warlord will deliver 3 shots in a half-inch or less at 100 yards.
MOA at distance- a rule of thumb for MOA is that if a rifle shoots MOA at 100 yards, the target group is equally proportionate as the distance increases, for example, MOA at 200 yards is 3 shots in 2” groups, 3” groups at 300 yards and so on.

T/C and Hornady have teamed up to create the 30TC, a cartridge designed to work perfectly with T/C’s ICON. It’s a .30 caliber medium action cartridge with the velocity and knock-down power of a 30-06 cartridge.
Specifically designed for Thompson/Center’s ICON bolt action rifle, the 30TC is quite possibly the most revolutionary cartridge ever developed. Its optimized case geometry and advanced propellants exceed 30-06 ballistics performance in a medium action case. The 30TC requires 25% less powder than a 30-06 cartridge resulting in 15% less recoil.
30TC is available in ICON and Venture.
