Late Iowa Muzzleloader Buck

We always look forward to late season especially when the cold and snow hit. We had planted tons of food and thank goodness because everyone else's food had run out and all of the bucks were pouring onto our plots. We were waiting for the right wind. We needed a NE wind to hunt the corn food plot.

Well two days later, Don and I loaded our Bad Boy Buggy up with a blind, 2 chairs, buddy propane heater, my tricked out pink T/C Pro Hunter, cameras, and all the gear. We decided to setup brushed in under a cedar tree overlooking the standing corn food plot.

With actual temps of -15 it was brutal trying to stay warm. We were about 150 yards from the food plot. It wasn't long before deer were pouring in all night long.

Lots of great bucks, but just not the split g2 buck we were after. Finally after continuously glassing for bucks on the plot with my EDG spotting scope I saw the Split G2 buck enter into the field. It didn't take me long to say Big Shooter! I took the scope off the tripod and slowly put my custom pink TC Encore 209X50 muzzleloader on my rest and settled the crosshairs right behind the buck's shoulder. I slowly squeezed the trigger and the buck dropped right in the field. I couldn't wait to get out of the blind to see this buck.

When I walked up to the big buck I was in amazement at the mass and tine length. He was a 9pointer with a split g2 on the left a sticker on the right and long brow tines. He grosses 170in. I was so excited to use this special muzzleloader. I was surprised this summer with it by Thompson/Center themselves. We had special guest in camp, Nick Hoffman, who plays fiddle for Kenney Chesney and he is a die hard hunter too. We had gotten back to our house and to our surprise Nick had shot a 155in. buck too with his Thompson/Center Muzzleloader.

What a night and then to top it off our producer for Whitetail Freaks shot a 170in. buck too with his Thompson/Center Bone Collector Muzzleloader. 3 big bucks in 1 night, now that is what Whitetail Freaks is all about. I was shooting Shockwave 250 grain bullet, 3-50 grain Pyrodex pellets, 209 Winchester 209 primers, BDC Nikon Omega reticle scope, and a custom pink Thompson/Center Encore 209x50 magnum muzzleloader. Whitetail Freaks TV airs on the Outdoor Channel on Tues - 6:30am, Thurs - 4:00pm, and Sun - 2:00pm EST. Thanks Thompson/Center for my pink muzzleloader I will treasure it forever. Kandi Kisky
