It was Ohio's late season muzzleloader hunt in December. We just got to the hunting ground around 9:30 right after a big rain storm. I was fully expecting to get skunked considering we were hunting on public grounds.
I put out my scents and waited. Around 10:30 the buck comes right in on me. I take a 30 yard frontal shot with my Encore 50 Cal. using a shockwave 300 grain bullet.
The buck takes off. I reload and wait about 15 minutes, and I preceed to walk about 30 yards and there is my buck laying on the trail he had just come from.
