Let me start off my story by thanking you guys for a great product. I bought my T/C Encore Turkey Gun 3 years ago. We patterned it, set it and have taken some nice birds since.
This hunt started about 6pm on April 6, 2009, the weather in the south has been horrible with rain and wind, but I slipped into a field that is known to have birds. I scanned with binoculars and spotted a fan just over the crest of the field.
The wind helped disguise my movement as I slipped around to the corner where the field meets a pine plantation. I set up on a small pine with brush cover in front of me. A few minutes later I could see the gobbler had 6 hens with him. He was strutting and drumming.
I soft called to the hens and got their attention. They were feeding along and dragging this gobbler with them towards the corner and me. After about 30 minutes I called to them again, they closed the distance pretty quickly after that. One sharp cutt brought him out of strut and the rest is... as they say down south "Get the grease hot"!
The bird was a 21lbs, 12" bearded with 1 3/8" spurs.
