I had waited 6 years for a southern Albera Antelope tag, and 2008 turned out to be my lucky year. I was drawn for a 102 rifle tag.

I am and avid muzzleloader hunter but unfortunately Alberta does not yet have a muzzleloader draw. I purchased an Omega when I was living in Saskatchewan and there were many early muzzleloader seasons for most of the big game.

With much success I came to love using my Omega so I opted to use it for the Alberta hunt.

The first October morning I had a quick look at the buck I had spotted the week before but decided to check for a bigger one around the country. Not finding a bigger one, on the 3rd day I went back hoping to find my antelope in the same place. He was there and it was then I realized I had misjudged him. He was a bruiser!!

My friend and I stalked him for 6 hours filling our knees and palms with cactus. I was able to crawl up to within 100 yards when he bedded down. I made a perfect lung shot and he dropped instantly. He was gross scored at 80 inches.
