13 yrs of applying, many scouting trips ,and I learned their habits and movements. I guide hunts all fall so time is very hard to come by.
I was on a hunt and my client had a family emergency and had to return home. I left camp at midnight, and left home at 4:00 am for my Goat area. I climbed to where the goats lived and by 9:30 I had located many goats. I relocated to the ridge that they were on and slipped to within 125 yards of the nearest goat. I wanted to see all the goats and have time to decide which I might want, so I sat there hidden for three hours.
Finally they all started to feed and work there way nearer to me. I was able to sort through two groups of goats, and some fed right to me. I decided on a nice billy .
There were several animals within 50 yards of me when I got ready and took the shot. My goat went down at the shot and never moved. It was one of the most enjoyable hunts I have ever done. If I could hunt Goats every year, it would be my first choice.
