I went out to my tree stand around 6 am. I didn't see a thing. So around 8:45 I decided to go for a little walk around the area I was hunting to see if I could kick something up. Nothing happened so I went to another area that I normally hunt for squirrels and got settled into the stand around 9:15.

20 minutes later a train came down the tracks (about 80 yards from the stand.) Suddenly I saw a deer running from the tracks headed into the area. It stopped about 50 yards from me and I saw that it had a nice rack. I saw how many points. I grabbed my Thompson Omega Z5 muzzleloader with a Nikon scope and took aim. All I saw was blackness. I forgot to raise the front lens cap. I did that and zeroed in on the vitals and took the shot. As the air cleared from the smoke I saw the Buck run to the right and stop about 40 yards away. It staggered and then dropped.

Thanks Thompson for a great Muzzleloader.
