I was hunting a farm my buddies dad owns in Jefferson Co., Indiana. It was the second day of Indiana's 2009 gun season Nov.15th, I was hunting on the ground with no blind just sitting by a tree. I first saw the buck following a doe off the hill across from me, they headed into a cedar thicket to my right I picked the only opening for a shot but had a vine just out of my reach. I tried to hold my gun high enough to miss the vine but when I squeezed the trigger the buck didn't move, I hit the vine.

Now I am very nervously reloading my muzzleloader and the buck starts walking my way. I finally get reloaded and get my gun up, watching him just over a ledge 30 yds. in front of me when I look to my left and the doe is at 20 yds. Looking at me she then trots about 20 more yds. and the buck walks up over the ledge and is 25 yds. to my left wide open. I give a maah, he stops and I squeezed the trigger. The end result was a 189" typical green score that has made me the most excited hunter in the world.
