Second day of the 2009 New York rifle season and I had been sitting in my stand from 5:30AM until 4:00 PM and had only seen one doe at 8:20. At 4:01 I heard what I thought to be a bear coming through the swamp from the north-east toward my stand.
I readied, and waited for the approach; it turned out to be a group of 5 whitetails, 3 does and after the shot, had found out there were two bucks in the group.
The deer was at most 12 yards from the tree that I was in when I took the shot. I rely on the Encore so much, I bought a second one this past summer, I just don't know when I'm going to get a chance to use it!.
Keep up the exceptional craftsmanship. Gregg T.
