I got this deer the last day of muzzleloader season. I was surprised to see such a nice buck after the regular shotgun season on public land. This was not the first deer I had taken with a smoke-pole but it was my first buck.

Pheasant hunters spooked him out of the valley of the Flat Brook and he tore up the hill I was hunting with 3 other bucks and about 10 does trailing close behind. I put one Thompson Center Shock-wave bullet in him and he didn't run but 30 yards. I was proud to have harvested such a nice animal on public land with a muzzleloader.
