While deer hunting on the 1st day of the muzzleloader hunt, a coyote started approaching my ground stand. As I watched him, he stopped and turned his head towards the canyon below where he heard some other hunters talking.

Being in heavy timber he showed no sign of fright, but he didn't see me up against a log. I leveled the Encore on him and aimed for the shoulder. A puff of blue smoke and I could see he was down. Afterwards, I lasered the distance at 40 yards. He is at the taxidermy right now. Not the deer I wanted but a trophy he is.
