.50 Muzzleloader

I drew a NM Persion Ibex muzzleloader tag in the Florida Mountains near Deming NM. The odds are about 1 in 100 to get picked.

I did some scouting and found a large herd with some very nice billy's. The opening day of the hunt I hiked up to the cliff of where I had last seen the Ibex. The mountain is very physical and I used a red light flashlight to navigate my way. I reached my desination 1hr befor day light.

I new the Ibex were there because they were barking at me and smart enough to try and roll rocks off the top of the cliff, knowing that I was below them. When the sun came up there was this large billy standing 180 yards at the top of the cliff. I got the best rest possible given the position with my TC Encore .50 and slowly squeezed the trigger.

At the sound of the Encore the billy dropped in his tracks. The 250gr. shockwave went through both shoulders, took out both lungs, and clipped the top of his heart. His horns are 46" by 43", a true trophy.
