The moose was shot Oct 21, 2008 in Shrewsbury, VT by Michael Warren. It was shot with a Thompson Center Arms 30-06 Pro Hunter and the estimated weight was 700 lbs.
It was shot while hunting with my step father George Burgess which was the permit holder. I was the sub permittee and my step brother Paul Burgess was the guide.
It was the fourth day of the hunt and my step father was blowing on the moose cow call, when the moose came running up the hill to us. He stoppped in some heavy spruce cover and I had to move 20 yards to take the shot.
One shot from the Pro Hunter and he was on the ground. That's when I realized that the work had just begun. Even though it was alot of work getting him to the truck, it allowed us to enjoy time together, something we haven't done in my twenty years serving in the Marine Corps.
It was a hunt of a life time for me to be able to share it with family.
