Only had less than and hour to get out to hunt on October 5th. 2010. I walked up a cutline to an alfalfa field to see what would come out. With about 2o minutes left, 3 bucks of this size came out to join the doe and fawns around 250 yards away.
I tried to close the distance when something spooked the deer off the field. I stuck with my plan to get into a better position in the field. With less than 5 minutes of time left, 2 of the bucks came from my left into the field to get back to where they originally came out. I raised my Encore and squeezed off; the deer ran straight away 70 yards across the field into the poplars. I grabbed my gear and followed; just into the trees lay a 290lb heavy 9 point; the biggest bodied Whitetail I have shot. I shot 2 more Mule deer with my Encore this fall, one with the Muzzleloader and the other with a 25-06.
In the last 19 years I have shot 60 deer with T/C firearms.
