This was my first elk hunt. Drew a tag in the New Mexico lottery for Unit 36. Hunted for 4 days on BLM land West of the Mescalero.

Finally was able to find this elk bedded down about 1 mile away. Made the stalk to about 320 yds & was able to take a shot. He was a 5 x 5 that scored 302 B&C.

Great shooting rifle and easy to carry up and down the hills.
