The second-generation G2 is even more user-friendly in the field than Thompson/Center's original Contender. In addition to the 40 barrel choices to match the accuracy and caliber range of any hunt, the G2’s grip, frame and forend have been profiled and sculpted for a modern, streamlined appearance.
HOW TO BUILD YOUR OWN G2 Contender
From a world-class rimfire or centerfire rifle to a long range, serious hunting handgun, T/C makes building your dream combination easy:
- Pick a frame and stock assembly that suits your needs.
- Choose the caliber you need from more than 40 available barrels.
- Give the model numbers to your local T/C dealer.
Rifle Frame Assemblies
Rifle frame assemblies include frame, stock, and forend with hinge pin and forend screws. Frame assemblies must be shipped to and sold through an FFL dealer.

Readily Interchangeable Barrels
Barrels for the G2 Contender can be changed in only seconds by removing the forend and tapping out the barrel/frame hinge pin.
Trigger Guard Spur
By simply pulling up and back on the trigger guard spur you can open the G2 Contender action to load and unload the chamber.

IN THE FIELD: How the G2 Compares
The T/C Contender has come along way since being introduced five decades ago. Today’s hunters love the G2 for its increased customizability, hunting accuracy and range in caliber. The modern Contender is also easier to open, allows for more clearance between the new ergonomic grip and the trigger guard, and allows shooters to cock the hammer, lower it, and re-cock without the need to break the action open again.
By simply pulling up and back on the trigger guard spur, you can open the G2 action to load and unload the chamber.
Choose from blued or stainless steel. Blued and stainless steel barrels are readily interchangeable on any G2 frame.
Wide grooves in Hammer Spur produce a positive grip.
G2 is equipped with a Manual Firing Pin Selector, allowing for use of rimfire or centerfire barrels on the same frame.
